Bobbie Gray

Ever since I can remember I have been creating art, sandcastle master pieces, sculpting mini monuments in Granny’s potting shed, portraits of my many pets, pastry pièce de résistance for the tops of Mums pies, murals on the garden fence. I would paint on pretty much anything I could get my hands on. And not a lot has changed in that respect.

I put down the brushes in exchange for spray cans and stencils, and rescued a box of old vinyl records destined for the skip and stencilled them back to life. And thus began my latest series of work, recycled record art. The appeal of stencils is that they allow me to take an idea or an image from anywhere and recreate it on any surface.

I find myself intensely drawn to the process of making and creating things. I love seeing my art transform from start to finish with imaginative ideas and sporadic inspirations. I find just as much joy in the creative process as I do in the finished product.
